    Dr. Sumba is the Director Partnerships and Programmes Development for Johkasou Green Ltd, which is a company that provides decentralised wastewater treatmentsolutions. She also holds other roles as Chairperson of the Women in Water and Sanitation Association, Kenya (WIWAS), Vice Chair of the Governing Council member of the Kenya Water and Sanitation Civil Society Network (KEWASNET), Executive Secretary of the Kenya Water Partnership, a Project Management Committee Member of the Mbooni WaterMart Water Project and an adjunct Lecturer at the Sanitation Research Center-Meru University of Science and Technology, Kenya.
    Dr.Sumba is a former CEO of Kenya Water Institute, where she also served as lecturerand a water researcher.Dr. Sumba is passionate about water,
    sanitation and environment, and is keen on educating the public on the same to elicit behavioural, attitude and mindsets change. She has organised and led many environmental and river clean-up exercises, walks, seminars and conferences. Her interest is in the interaction between water, sanitation, environment and the wellbeing of the population. Dr. Sumba enjoys working with young people.
    She is leading WIWAS in a programme aimed at highlighting and addressing challenges faced by the manual pit (latrine) emptiers of Korogocho (sanitation workers). She is the founder of the Toilet of the Year Award (ToYA), which is an annual event hosted by WIWAS. She and others are currently working on a research project, called (SISTARS), which stands for “TranSforming InSTitutions to Advance women leadeRS in Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM): Lessons from Ghana and Kenya”. Dr. Sumba holds a PhD in Biology, MSc in Parasitology, a post-graduate Diploma in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), and has training in basics of decentralized wastewater treatment, among other trainings.
